Gold Star

Our career center has been awarded the Gold level of certification from OUT for Work. What does that mean? Well for one it means that we’ve been recognized as a good career center 🙂 The certification evaluates us on three main criteria: Gauge the current tools and available resources focused on how to be “out” in the workplace. Assess the quality and quantity of LGBTQ materials available to students Assess the willingness of career centers to host or attend LGBTQ & Ally career conferences Certification includes access for our students to the LGBTQ Career Resources Library, which serves as a […]

BPIP Info Sessions

Students who want to explore careers in the non-profit and public service sectors have a great resource right here on campus: the Bucknell Public Interest Program (BPIP) and the BPIP Internship Fund.  BPIP educates students about non-profit and public interest careers and helps students learn about organizations in the public interest sector that may offer both full-time jobs and summer internships.  The BPIP Internship Fund provides financial support for undergraduate students (first-year students, sophomores, and juniors), who have secured full-time, unpaid summer internships with non-profit organization and government offices. The Fund helps students to gain valuable experience in their field of […]

Some Ideas When You Have No Idea About What To Do For Work

I came across this great blog post on Career Hub…a source I regularly go to for ideas on our own blog. The posts I find here are always creative and filled with great information. Now this post is aimed at the out of college job seeker but much of what is suggested can be for both the new job or internship seeker and the “seasoned” job seeker. The only thing I will add to the list below is to make sure you take advantage of the Career Development Center here on campus. A lot of the suggestions and exercises offered […]

Student Persepctive: The Early Bird Gets the Worm

Another great installment of advice from Brittany Waser ’12. As winter break is rapidly approaching (and I may have been counting down since returning from Thanksgiving break), most likely the last thing on your mind after finishing exams is resuming your summer internship or job search. While it may seem ridiculous to be thinking of where you will be in June amidst the freezing cold weather of winter, especially for the fast paced world of a college student who may not know what they are eating for dinner let alone what they will be doing in six months, it pays […]

Student Perspective: What can I do with this major???

By Katrina Hefele ’13 “Hi parents, how are you doing today? Good? Good. Oh yeah that’s right, I did have to declare my major today. No, I’m not an engineer, I chose to follow my own path and not become an engineer just because you are one. Why are you yelling at me? There are so many things that I can do with this major! What can I do with it? OK, let me tell you…” Have you gone through this conversation before? Well, I have and let me tell you that I was extremely glad that I work at […]
