Toot My Horn!

I’m not one to be braggadocious but when I found out we had been listed as one of the Top 25 Career Services Blogs I had to put my modesty aside and toot my own horn. In addition to the obvious honor we felt, the list included blogs from top schools and many that I look to for inspiration; it’s nice to know I have good taste 🙂 Of course I want you all to continue to read the Bucknell Career Insider hourly (I guess I’ll settle for daily) but I also wanted to share the article so you can […]

Furthermore, responding employers indicated that while 31 percent of their new employees came from their own internship programs, 62 percent had internship experience of some kind. Um…Like…You Should Seriously Hire Me

When I was in graduate school I had to do a mock interview in front of my entire class. Then the class, as well as my Professor (who had 7 Masters and 2 Ph.D’s –no joke!) critiqued me. As horrifying as this sounds, it was every bit! But it was also amazingly helpful. I think I owe all the jobs I’ve gotten due to that class. While I was doing some research on Mock Interview tips I came across this great post on SUNY Cortland’s Career Services blog and had to share it. On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) starts February 7th, get […]

Our career center has been awarded the Gold level of certification from OUT for Work. What does that mean? Well for one it means that we’ve been recognized as a good career center 🙂 The certification evaluates us on three main criteria: Gauge the current tools and available resources focused on how to be “out” in the workplace. Assess the quality and quantity of LGBTQ materials available to students Assess the willingness of career centers to host or attend LGBTQ & Ally career conferences Certification includes access for our students to the LGBTQ Career Resources Library, which serves as a […]

Some Ideas When You Have No Idea About What To Do For Work

I came across this great blog post on Career Hub…a source I regularly go to for ideas on our own blog. The posts I find here are always creative and filled with great information. Now this post is aimed at the out of college job seeker but much of what is suggested can be for both the new job or internship seeker and the “seasoned” job seeker. The only thing I will add to the list below is to make sure you take advantage of the Career Development Center here on campus. A lot of the suggestions and exercises offered […]
