By Katrina Hefele ’13 “Hi parents, how are you doing today? Good? Good. Oh yeah that’s right, I did have to declare my major today. No, I’m not an engineer, I chose to follow my own path and not become an engineer just because you are one. Why are you yelling at me? There are so many things that I can do with this major! What can I do with it? OK, let me tell you…” Have you gone through this conversation before? Well, I have and let me tell you that I was extremely glad that I work at […]

Student Perspective: 10 Tips on Networking and Internships

As you head into to finals and then off for winter break we wanted to offer you some tips on networking and internships by your fellow peer Brittany Waser ’12. Through my internship search and summer job search I have found that one of the most valuable tips I have received is the importance of networking. Often intimidating and easily ignored, networking can be the key to unlocking a seemingly unattainable summer position. This is […]

Going Abroad? Remember it’s a Global Village

Remember that scene in The Social Network when the Winklevi are rowing at Henley? And they hear that someone at Oxford has Facebook? And they get really mad because Facebook has caught on so much it jumped continents? Right. So what’s my point? Well Dee-Lite sang it best when they came at you from the “global village…in the age of communication,”‘ but my point is a little less lyrical. What is my point you ask? Yes, I’m getting to that. My point is: it’s very easy to stay connected! We know that internet access may be less accessible at times […]

Student Perspective – The BRIDGE: Bursting the Bubble

Bucknell has often been referred to as a bubble. It is a campus filled with brick buildings, athletic facilities and breath-taking views of the Pennsylvania landscape. Within these warm brick buildings are numerous services provided by the University in an effort to burst this bubble. Of these services, the best is arguably the Bridge. The Bridge is more than a job application site. Its name truly suits its function as it connects Bucknell undergraduate students to Alumni, career-oriented campus events, and professional opportunities that reach far beyond the Lewisburg city limits. Even more so, the Bridge is easily accessible and […]
