“Go West, Young Man”

There may be a debate about who actually said this famous line but there is no debate in its call to action, “go west!” Recently the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) released a survey that indicates that the “Midwest Leads in Hiring Projection Increase.” The good news is: hiring plans are increasing! According to the survey, Responses indicate that the increase in college hiring will be highest in the Midwest, where employers expect to hire 18.5 percent more college graduates in 2012 than they did in 2011. Behavioral Interviews

We discussed Case Interviews, which is all well and good but not everyone will be subjected to a case interview so now I’d like to turn our attention to Behavioral Interviews. Did you see the new Transcript Request process?

We came across this in the Message Center (that place is full of information!) and wanted to make sure we pointed it out here as many students find themselves needing to request transcripts for career-related reasons, especially for graduate schools (that’s leading to a career so I’m counting it). Here was the message: Effective 02/06/12, the website utilized for transcript requests will change. All online orders for transcripts should be completed at www.iwantmytranscript.com. Bucknell Public Interest Program Internship Fund

Students who want to explore careers in the non-profit and government sectors have a great resource right here on campus: the Bucknell Public Interest Program (BPIP) and the BPIP Internship Fund. BPIP educates students about non-profit and public service careers, and helps students learn about how to find internships and jobs in these sectors. The BPIP Internship Fund provides financial support for undergraduate students (first-year students, sophomores, and juniors), who have secured full-time, unpaid summer internships with non-profit organization and government offices.
