Hi, I’m Megan from the Career Development Center and I’m here to clear up a big misconception about the CDC at Bucknell – we are not just for seniors! While we will try not to overwhelm you with information as you settle in to campus we highly recommend that you come in at some point during your first year.
Okay so here are the top 3 things you need to know about us:
- We are not just for seniors, seriously!
We offer and provide support throughout the career decision making process. You can:
– Take a self-assessment test (for free) like Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory which help match people’s interests to careers they might enjoy and find fulfilling
– Set up an appointment to talk through different majors and discover potential career paths
– Learn how to use the Bucknell network to conduct informational interviews with alumni in areas that you are interested in
This is just a sampling of things we can do to help you well before you are a senior. You can make an appointment with a career counselor or just stop in and see what we have to offer. For a quick question/easy intro we offer a “Quick Question” walk-in period M-F, 1:30-3:30. - What is the Bridge?
The Bridge is a platform we use to post externships, internships, and jobs. You can search listings, companies, and upload your documents, save searches and find our complete calendar of events. In short it’s our top resource. Tip: Find My Career Center in myBucknell for easy access to the Bridge and other career resources. - Where is our office?
Yup that’s where it is – on the way to Taylor from the LC.
Okay so if you take away one thing from this post I hope it’s knowing we are here to help you at any stage of your career search process. If you take away two things, the second piece should be what the Bridge is. The Bridge. You will hear it a lot. It is your friend.
