Social Science Research Institute Supplementary Research Grants

We saw this in the Message Center and wanted to make sure students were aware of this great research grant opportunity: Social Science Research Institute (SSRI) Supplementary Research Grants. The application Deadline is April 19th, 2017 and the grant is up to $1,500.

Applications are being accepted for the Bucknell Social Science Research Institute Supplemental Research Grants for Summer/Fall 2017. There will be both a faculty and student competition. The grants will be given up to the maximum of $1500 each. Since these grants are supplementary, successful applicants will be sure to explain how these funds will enhance ongoing work and/or be used in addition to other funding received or for which you have applied. Awards will be made in May and funds will support work over the summer and following fall.

The SSRI Supplementary Research Grants aim to support social science research components unlikely to be funded elsewhere, and are intended as an additional or small funding source. Potential projects components could be (but are not limited to) interview transcription work, survey research, translation services, field research transportation, pilot or exploratory research, a small follow-up to a nearly completed project, or funding public dissemination of complete research. Students who need additional research stipends to round out their summer funding from other sources are also encouraged to apply.

Social scientists welcome, and actively seek out, community commentary on their findings and methods. To both model and facilitate this, all faculty and students who receive a grant will be expected to provide a brief written summary of their research projects and finds, which will be posted to the SSRI webpage. Funded faculty and students will also be encouraged to disseminate their results by giving a presentation organized by SSRI during the year following reception of the grant.

Students: To apply for the grant complete the application form available at https://goo.gl/forms/FZhjckm3F5KpRrMO2 and email your Project Budget and paragraph of support from a faculty member to gc031@bucknell.edu

If you have questions, please contact the Social Science Research Institute co-directors: Elizabeth Durden (tdurden@bucknell.edu) and Vanessa Massaro (v.a.massaro@bucknell.edu).

Application Deadline is April 19th, 2017.

Fund will need to be transferred to your research account or expenses turned into our office by June 1, 2017
