Photo - HatteryThis weeks peer picks from Sophie Hattery ’16:

1 URBN Rotational Management Program – Deadline 9/26

2 Wacker Chemical Corporation Internship – Deadline 10/7

For my first peer pick this week, I decided to highlight one of my favorite companies, URBN, the parent company to the following retail stores: Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People. URBN is offering a rotational management-training program in Philadelphia – not too far from good old Lewisburg! This program would be for one year and will give you exposure to the stores’ respective organizations in addition to the planning, allocation, sourcing, logistics, finance, IT and recruiting departments. If you are chosen for this selective program, you will gain the knowledge, skills, and relationships to forge a successful career in the fashion industry. After completion of the rotations, designated candidates who thrived during the program will be promoted to various roles in the company. If you are a creative individual graduating in 2016 with a minimum GPA of 3.2, this could be the place to be. Do not forget to apply on the Bridge by Saturday, September 26!

  • BONUS: URBN will be on-campus for an info session on October 6 at Noon in ELC Walls Lounge

For my second peer pick, I chose another internship opportunity not so far from Bucknell. Wacker Chemical Corporation, a global chemical company, is offering an internship in Allentown, Pennsylvania for rising juniors or seniors majoring in supply chain, business management, marketing, chemistry, chemical engineering, or mechanical engineering. If you were under the Strategic Marketing and Development team, focusing on market research projects by reading market studies, conducting internet searches, compiling and analyzing data, updating databases, and analyzing raw material supply chains. However, if you chose to be with the Research and Application Teams, you would focus on projects analyzing product samples relating to various construction markets. Emphasis will be placed upon polymeric and inorganic materials that are included in end-use products, such as tile adhesives, caulks, mastics, coatings, grouts, repair mortars, etc. Hands-on application evaluation is done in accordance to ASTM, ANSI and ISO standards. Knowledge of Excel and word processing are needed as is a desire to work in a lab environment, operate test equipment, and handle powder samples. In addition, the interns will be required to record notes diligently in lab notebooks and both make and deliver PowerPoint presentations. If this sounds like something you could see yourself getting into, do not forget to apply by Wednesday, October 7th on the Bridge!
