Mail Grab Bag: Winter Break

Here are some things that came to our offices over break that we thought you might want to know about:

  1. GRE Prep Course at Penn State: Penn State-UP’s Office of Career Services will be offering its GRE weekend preparation course on Feb. 28-March 1, 2015. This popular course, which has been offered through the Office of Career Services 31 times since 2004, is both low-cost and well-credentialed:  for a registration fee of $350, registrants will receive a complete preparation course by a J.D./ Ph.D. who has coached some 12,000 students on this and similar tests.   2. San Francisco Career Forum: For Japanese -Held in San Francisco on February 20 & 21 this fair is for English bilingual students.
  3. Publishing Institute | University of Denver: the ideal launching pad for your career in book publishing. During four weeks (July 12 – August 2) , it will introduce you to the exciting and ever-changing world of book publishing. The course will provide a solid educational foundation and an excellent network for your subsequent job search. The Institute is taught by industry professionals who work at trade, university, textbook, and small independent publishers throughout the country as well as in New York. Graduates go on to publishing careers around the country and the world. You’ll find some of our recent graduates at HarperCollins; Penguin Group; Oxford University Press; Chicago Review Press; Sourcebooks, Inc; Pearson; McGraw-Hill and many more. Applications are now being accepted for the 2015 program.
  4. Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey Intern Company:  designed for college students and early-career theatre professionals interested in specific fields other than acting. Interns work in one department for the duration of the training program, under the direction of The Shakespeare Theatre’s professional staff. Internships offer in-depth practical training and hands-on work experience at a professional level while obtaining connections with respected artists and members of the field. Some prior experience in the field of interest is necessary for most internships. Apply by April 24th, 2015 for May 24th – August 10th, 2015 Internship
