1. EY Emerging Leaders Program

2. Deloitte Internship

As a fellow accounting and financial management major, I urge those of you who love dedicating your lives to financial statements, net present value, and transferable critical thinking skills to apply to start up programs at public accounting firms. It is vital for sophomores in particular to start early – three day externships can lead to internships, which could potentially lead to a way less stressful path to a lucrative and enjoyable job. I selected Ernst & Young’s program this week for this very reason. Ernst & Young is a part of the Big Four and has also been acclaimed to be one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” for 14 consecutive years. The firm delivers assurance, tax, transaction, and advisory services to a wide array of industries such as media and entertainment, financial services, real estate, and the government and public sector. The Emerging Leaders Program promises to help you network in addition to sharpening your leadership, teamwork and communication skills. Do not forget to apply on the BRIDGE as well as completing Ernst & Young’s online application at www.ey.com/us/apply by Monday, February 10th!

My second peer pick is an internship at Deloitte in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Deloitte is one of the leading professional services organizations in the United States, specializing in audit, tax, consulting, and financial advisory services with clients in more than 20 industries. The firm provides powerful business solutions to some of the world’s most well-known and respected companies, including more than 75 percent of the Fortune 100.

If you are interested in helping clients in their efforts to address some of their most complex business problems through the effective application of technology and want to do this in an exciting environment, then participating in the Business Technology Analyst (BTA) Summer Scholar Intern program can be the start of an exciting career for you. As a member of an entrepreneurial client project team, you will have the chance to learn first-hand how Deloitte helps many of the world’s most influential companies develop their information technology strategy and significantly improve their technology investments. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate leadership and teamwork throughout the summer. Your primary responsibilities will involve working directly with clients providing services designed to help them solve their most complex business problems. You will be aligned with a service line prior to your start date based on Deloitte’s service line needs, recommendations from your interviewers and any preference you expressed during the interview process. If this sounds like a program fit for you, do not forget to apply by Monday, February 10th as well on the BRIDGE!
