AmeriCorps

AmeriCorps is the national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with education awards and other benefits in exchange for a year or two of community service.  It’s like the domestic Peace Corps (by the way they’ll be here on Monday, 3/18!). AmeriCorps members help meet the nation’s critical needs in the areas of public safety, education, human needs, and the environment.

If you aren’t sure what to do after graduation or want to pay off college debt – serving with AmeriCorps may be the perfect option!

Benefits include:

  • Living Stipend
  • Education Award to help finance future education or repay existing loans
  • Health Insurance
  • Forbearance on active student loans and payment of interest on qualified loans while serving.

You can even stay local!  C.O.R.E Susquehanna AmeriCorps was established in 1994 as a project of the Union-Snyder Community Action Agency, located in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania. AmeriCorps, also referred to as the ‘Domestic Peace Corps’, has its roots in the long tradition of service opportunities that includes the Civilian Conservation Corps, the GI Bill, the Peace Corps, VISTA, and the Points of Light Foundation.

C.O.R.E Susquehanna AmeriCorps currently has three members serving at Bucknell, will you be next?
