This Week: Learn About Federal Jobs

I’m sensing a theme this coming week around government jobs and public service; there seem to be several opportunities for you to learn and network.  Here are the highlights:

  • Tuesday, October 23
    • Bucknell Public Interest Program (BPIP) Info Session: Noon – 1 pm, ELC Gallery Theatre
The BPIP Internship Fund provides financial support for undergraduate students (first-year, sophomores, and juniors), who have secured full-time, unpaid summer internships with non-profit organization and government offices. Application Deadline: March 18, 2013.
  • Wednesday, October 24
    • Federal Intern and Entry-Level Hire Webinar: 1-2 pm, Coleman 21
Does anyone really read my application to a federal job? How can my resume stand out in USAJOBS? What will I actually be doing at my federal internship this summer? Hear the answers to these questions and more from entry-level hires and interns who have successfully—and recently—completed the federal application process; learn about what these successful applicants did to achieve their coveted federal positions and what types of projects they are working on now.
    • Employer Session: General Services Administration (GSA): 6-7, ELC Gallery Theatre (301)
  • Thursday, October 25
    • Alumni Presentation: The Federal Hiring Process with Raj Thangavelu ‘98: 5:30-7pm, Coleman 120
Learn the ins and outs of applying for a federal job or internship. Bucknell Alum Raj Thangavelu ’98, will discuss navigating through the USAJOBS website, how to apply for positions and also how to tailor your resumes to get the job or internship you want. Depending on time available afterwards, Mr. Thangavelu will be available to meet with students individually to discuss their resumes. Refreshments will be served.
