Internship & Job Fair

One week from today classes start up again. Now maybe that isn’t the best opening line I could use but it’s the truth.  I start there because I’m going to remind you about the on-campus Internship & Job Fair that we’ll be hosting on Jan. 31st. That may seem like a long time away but you know, as well as I do, that the minute classes start time flies. So I’m telling you now. Classes are starting and there’s a great fair coming up. And you don’t have to wait to be back in the bubble to start prepping for the fair.

  • Right now you should check out the list of employers already registered. Research them on the BRIDGE. Research them on LinkedIn. Research them.
  • Check out the alumni tips written up by Laura Carlson ’12 on some do’s and don’ts of a career fair.
  • Go through our networking series, especially read up on selling yourself with an elevator speech and the tips if you are still feeling shy.
  • We loved this article from NACE on how to take advantage of a career fair
  • Not sure how to dress? Take a look at our Pinterest page for what to wear for women and men…and don’t forget to pack that suit!
  • While you’re at home talk to your friends about career fairs at their schools: if they go, what they get out of them, what questions to ask.
  • Check out the calendar for events (like Resumania) already scheduled that will help you prep for the fair and plan to attend them now, before your schedule starts to fill up.

That’s all for now. We cannot wait to have you all back on-campus and hope you have all resolved to make 2012 the year of using the Career Center 🙂
