From the bookshelves

I am not sure how much you’ve read to gather that I can be a supreme dork; if it’s not my love for NPR that shoots me in the foot perhaps it’s my obsession with the New York Times crossword or love of non-fiction – all told my hobbies put me in the realm of dork and this new reveal will do little to negate this: LIBRARIES! When I was little my favorite scene in Beauty and the Beast was in the library – all those books, the ladders to get to them, the cozy chairs by the fireplace – it’s my idea of heaven.

And while I’m still working on my home library dream I wanted to let you in on a little secret – we’ve got one (albeit small) in the CDC. And since it is a little known fact that we have one we thought we’d try to highlight some of the books here but please don’t use that as an excuse not to come in an explore our shelves!

Given that the Expo is over and interviewing is in full swing we thought these two would be great to start with. Seniors hopefully  picked up some great eating etiquette tips at the Senior Etiquette Dinner (Juniors be aware of this event for next year…it’s great!) but for those of you who will be meeting or networking over food Colleen Rush’s (Class of ’95) book will be a great help. And although Expo may be over it’s not the last of our fairs (NYC Finance Summit is Oct. 6) and what to where for the interview is always something that people are wondering about – The Style Bible may come in handy for all you guys out there that haven’t answered Barney’s call to “suit up!”

The Mere Mortal’s Guide to Fine Dining

The Style Bible

Askmen.com compiled The Style Bible in order to help any man improve his dress sense and lifestyle.  In this book, you will find eleven fundamental rules that will help every man dress to impress.  Topics covered include how to build a wardrobe and coordinate colors/patterns/accessories, as well as how to dress appropriately for a variety of situations.  With tips on how to dress for your body shape, pick out the right pair of shoes, and even maintaining personal grooming habits, this book is a great reference for any man looking for help on how to build a complete and timeless wardrobe.

And if you know about a great book that has to do with careers, networking, interviewing, you get the gist – please let us know! We love hearing about great books and work very hard to try to get them and make them available to you.

Now don’t all rush here at once….
