Internships on the BRIDGE 101

What’s the BRIDGE? The CDC’s online database of jobs, internships, employers, events, career fairs, programs, and more. It allows you to maintain your cover letters, resumes, career preferences, alerts and job searches in one spot as well as apply directly to listed opportunities.

Why should you use it? It allows you to search and apply for internships, jobs, and employers who have established relationships with Bucknell. It’s also a terrific way to learn of and sign up for upcoming programs and events. When you keep your profile up-to-date it allows us to better target announcements of opportunities and employer/alumni visits.

What can you find on The BRIDGE? You will find jobs and internships listed by employers who have a relationship with Bucknell, and who are specifically seeking Bucknell students. These opportunities always have Monday deadlines and can often be applied for through the system, but please always follow the posted application process/requirements. You can find these listings by either viewing “Monday” of any month on the calendar, or by using the search feature and, within the results page, selecting “posted by Bucknell University” on the left side of the search results. If employers are visiting campus, and you are granted an interview, you can also use the system to sign up for a slot.

What’s the SummerBRIDGE? Part of the BRIDGE which students can research a number of additional summer opportunities with employers interested in Bucknell students. The CDC enters and maintains the listings throughout the academic year. Typically, students apply directly to the employer in whatever way the employer indicates within their listing (mail, e-mail, online). We also recommend that students follow up with the employers to inquire of the status of their applications.

There are 4 ways to search SummerBRIDGE for internships. Any of them will work. All are available on the home page once you log on. Your username is bison + BUID (i.e: bison1234567) and your password is bison.

Where else can I look? A third source of internship leads is provided by experience.com partnered with careerbuilder.com. These internship opportunities are posted by any employer and do not always have direct relationships with Bucknell. You can find those be selecting “All Sources” on the left side of the internship search results.

Additional Information: BRIDGE application deadlines are usually Mondays at 11:59 pm. If you have any technical difficulties with your application, email: recruiting@bucknell.edu before the deadline and we will be able to help you. Make sure you continue to check the BRIDGE as part of your comprehensive job search strategy, but note that industries recruit differently depending on the time of year and how much their openings are planned. If you aren’t finding what interests you on the BRIDGE, please work with a CDC counselor to determine the best strategies for your needs.
