By Sophie Hattery ’16 A rise in technology usually means that a new iPhone model has been released. In this case, technological advancements have brought about a new way of interviewing, namely Interview Stream. Instead of the traditional Skype interview, candidates for jobs now might have to record previously selected questions to be submitted to their prospective employers. Famous employers that have started to use this innovational interviewing process are Johnson and Johnson, as well as Hershey. Basically, Interview Stream asks candidates questions that they can view and respond to at their convenience. The videos can then be easily sent […]
Sophie Hattery ’16 is one of our Social Media and Marketing Peer Specialists in the CDC [want that job? Apply for next year!] and she just landed an internship for the summer! In the process she came up with some good interviewing tips. I do not know about the rest of you, but February seems to be peak interview season! Although spring break is readily approaching, do not put off preparing for your interviews in the final stretch. I know that balancing homework, working a job, and studying for midterms may be overwhelming – but interviews are what can be […]
Bucknell is situated in an often ideal location but when it comes to getting to interviews it can present a challenge. Luckily Skype (or video) interviewing is becoming increasingly acceptable and sometimes even preferable for many employers. Video interviews, conducted using Skype or any other video conferencing software, may be held during any state of the interview process. You should prepare for a video interview as you would for an in-person interview, with a few extra tips: Arrive Early and Test Equipment: Arrive early to the site you will be using for the interview; the interview rooms in the CDC […]

It’s post-Expo and we are in full swing with interviews on campus! We talk a lot about tips for interviewing: what to wear, questions to ask, but we also need to discuss another topic: the ethics of interviewing on campus. An interview is a business commitment; once you apply and are granted an interview, it is expected that you will attend. It is our policy that, if you are a no-show for an interview, you will be suspended from the BRIDGE immediately. The Career Development Center does not advocate missing classes for interviews and we recommend that you do your […]
Re-sharing some tips I learned from the Intern Queen when she came to campus (way back when) regarding interviewing and the increasingly popular Skype interview. Here is my take on her tips: Always Wear Pants: This is a good lesson for life in general but we’ll just stick to the reasons why in regards to interviewing. You may think because you are sitting down in front of desk you won’t be able to see your legs but this is not a guarantee so let’s just err on the side of caution and put some pants on. Be Aware Your Surroundings: […]

We discussed Case Interviews, which is all well and good but not everyone will be subjected to a case interview so now I’d like to turn our attention to Behavioral Interviews. Behavioral Interviews, or Behavioral-Based Interviews (BBI), is a technique used by employers to learn about your past behavior in particular situations to help determine how you would perform on the job and fit into the organization. “Enthusiasts believe that past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior…more recent behavior is a better predictor of future behavior than older behavior, and that long-standing trends are better predictors of behavior […]
On-Campus Recruiting is starting back up and I thought now would be a good time to talk about Case Interviews. You may have heard this term thrown around but do you really know what a case interview is? If you are hoping to go into the management, consulting or the investment banking area then you definitely NEED TO KNOW because a case interview will almost definitely be a part of your interview process. In a case interview the job applicant is given a question, situation, problem or challenge and asked to solve it. The case problem or challenge is often […]
