NACE (our our national professional association) recently published a great article on “Using Pinterest as a Job-Search and Branding Tool.” Since we are on Pinterest we love the idea of using it, in general, and for your job search. Just because we think this is a fun idea does not mean you need to do it or it is essential for your job search but we wanted to share the idea with you in case you’d like to explore it. Here is a quick excerpt: “The arts, graphic design, marketing, and other heavily visual majors will probably find using Pinterest […]
I wanted to share this great tip I saw in a recent Forbes article on how to build a positive social media profile and avoid being rejected by a potential employer: Always follow the old saying about not posting anything that would make you embarrassed if it were published on the front page of a newspaper. Don’t use Facebook as a forum to vent on everything you hate about life, your job, someone else, or a company – talk to a friend in person if you feel the need to vent. For more tips, here is a link to the […]

A second, and uniquely Bucknell way, to build your network is by participating in our Bucknell Professional Networks. These are already conveniently organized with alumni by industry which takes out a lot of the work on your end. These […]

They say pictures are worth a thousand words and since no one will read a one thousand word blog post I thought this image would be good to start out with: Now that I’ve (hopefully) got your attention it’s time to tell you about a workshop we’ll be doing regarding your Professional Reputation. I know this sounds all stuffy and serious but what it comes down to is making sure you don’t become one of the statistics above. You see we can’t make this up…it’s a […]
So I was doing my daily twitter drudge and it’s overwhelming what you can find. I don’t know if it was because it was rainy or what but today Twitter seemed to be particularly jam packed with great information. Jammed. Packed. I won’t share it all with you here, although I would like to, but I did want to highlight one of the coolest things I found today – Classmates on LinkedIn (now called Alumni as of 11/1) I can’t remember my exact trail but somehow I came across The LinkedIn Blog and the post all about this new feature: […]
We know you are busy people, we know you may not want to think about your career only M-F, 8:30 – 4:30, and we know you may not realize that the Botany Building is not for plants … but budding careers (Ha!
