Entre-Vous To Entrepreneur – Advice from Alumni

During Homecoming I had the great opportunity to attend a panel discussion that was sponsored by the 125 years of co-education celebration. It was an amazing panel with outstanding alumni–all with different points of view, industries, passions, but 1 thing in common: the desire and fortitude to become a successful entrepreneur. This panel should not have been missed but alas it was…by many. The information was so good that I decided that I should share some snippets. The best pieces of advise that I gleaned from this panel are as follows: Network: Take advantage and use the opportunities you have […]

Fall Back Your Clock; Spring Forward your Internship Seach

Perhaps you are thinking about getting in gear for your internship search? It is a great idea to get a head […]

Student Perspective – The BRIDGE: Bursting the Bubble

Bucknell has often been referred to as a bubble. It is a campus filled with brick buildings, athletic facilities and breath-taking views of the Pennsylvania landscape. Within these warm brick buildings are numerous services provided by the University in an effort to burst this bubble. Of these services, the best is arguably the Bridge. The Bridge is more than a job application site. Its name truly suits its function as it connects Bucknell undergraduate students to Alumni, career-oriented campus events, and professional opportunities that reach far beyond the Lewisburg city limits. Even more so, the Bridge is easily accessible and […]

Do you vault or just jump?

Definition: to jump across or leap over an obstacle but perhaps the best definition was demonstrated by Kerri Strug in the 1996 Olympics (starts at 1:23) but, don’t worry, we aren’t expecting you to land on one foot. Which is why Bucknell subscribes to an amazing career resource called…you guessed it…The Vault. Access is strictly for Bucknell students but can be easily accessed through myBucknell (or this post). It’s easy to do anywhere on campus; once you are signed in to myBucknell you will also be automatically signed in to the Vault. Why use the Vault? Our subscription gives you […]

The Truth Awaits…Do Nonprofit Workers Really Earn Less?

The debate can get heated quickly between those looking into nonprofit careers and those following a different path, but one thing that both sides typically agree on is who will be making more money. By Erdin Beshimov It’s a common preconception that working for a nonprofit, and promoting one’s socially-oriented ideals, involves a pay-cut. It is true that on average one should expect to earn less in the nonprofit sector than in the for-profit business sector. But do the averages tell the whole story? […]
