Show Me John Legend

That you did Bucknell, that you did. And now I’m going to take something cool and turn it into career advice. I know…I hope I don’t ruin it for you. Last night I attended the John Legend talk and performance and was blown away, much like the rest of the crowd (at least according to Twitter).  I don’t know if it’s just because I work at the CDC or not but I felt like his talk was very much about careers; not being afraid to take risks, following your passion, trying something new, failing and starting over. His talk had […]

Hollywood is lying to you

It should come as no surprise to you that Hollywood’s portrayal of “real life” is less than real. No that’s being too nice, it’s a flat out farce. Reality TV is anything but reality and shows like Gossip Girl makes it seem like once you get into one Ivy you can go to any of them and internships are easy to walk away from, especially for a frenemy. If anyone here thought these disillusions were based on anything resembling real life then I’m sorry to have to burst your bubble. Why, you may be asking, is this relevant to a […]

And now classes begin tomorrow and, if you haven’t started already, now is a good time to get moving on your internship or job search. Here’s three tips to get you started: Get […]

Winter Break – Take Us With You!

It’s the last day of finals and the few cars left are packing up, ready to leave our little bubble for Winter Break. But just because you aren’t on campus doesn’t mean that you have to leave the CDC behind you. First of course…take a break! You deserve it. You’ve been working hard and, just like you have to recharge your iPhone, your body needs to recharge its own battery so rest up and don’t feel guilty. At some point of course your parents may start nagging you to get up before 3 pm and people may start asking you […]
