CDC Intern Picks: DisputeSoft & Merck

11-29This week’s CDC Intern picks are internships geared towards Engineering majors.

The first opportunity is with a software development company located not far outside of DC. Learn and develop skills on how to design and create software applications that would allow companies like DisputeSoft to consult and manage the marketing analytics and user interfaces of top Fortune 100 companies. Interns who are capable will have the opportunity to assist full time employees with client work and disputes between them. You may go from analyzing whether a disputed software system takes advantage of modern programming paradigms by writing scripts in Python or you might analyze a forensic image of a hard drive to determine the similarity of two applications at issue in a copyright case. DisputeSoft is looking for Computer Engineers/Scientists to apply that have a basic understanding in Java, C++, or a similar computer coding program with an ability to adapt and strong technical problem solving skills. Our second internship for the week is with the pharmaceutical company Merck. It is is a global healthcare leader with a diversified portfolio of prescription medicines, vaccines and animal health products. All engineering majors are encouraged to apply but work will mainly be focused on the chemical side of engineering. Interns will provide support on day-to-day activities and strategic projects to ensure all is compliant, safe, and cost effective. This would include supporting any deviations that may occur, troubleshooting processing issues, and completing process improvement projects. Application requirements include a minimum of 2 years of undergraduate studies in Engineering, a familiarity with Microsoft applications, and willing and eagerness to learn, and at least a brief experience with Six Sigma.
