As you begin to look around your rooms and post all the stuff you don’t want to move on the Message Center remember to “pack” your cyber stuff, like any BRIDGE documents (resumes, cover letters), transcripts, or papers in your netspace.
Here’s an quick list of what to think of and what to do with it. Let’s start with an easy one:
Email – Good news, your Bmail account will continue without interruption but if you are no longer going to be checking this account make sure you update your information on your resume, LinkedIn and B-Link. If you have any questions or problems, contact LIT at 570-577-7777 or techdesk@bucknell.edu
Netspace & myBucknell Access – As of August 1, your access to these services will end, therefore, be sure to remove your files from your public/private space before this date. And before your trash all those papers….some employers ask for writing samples (not all and not all the time) so it might be a good idea to hang on to a few good ones. Some employers (or grad schools) may ask for a copy of your transcript, so you may want to get a copy for your files now. Look out for an email (probably from LIT) about your Netspace and what you will always have access to and what you need to move/save somewhere else with instructions and the exact date.
BRIDGE – Access to the BRIDGE will end in the mid-August. After August you won’t be able to access your account on the BRIDGE (and neither can we) so be sure to download and save any documents that you uploaded in the BRIDGE. Even if you have a job keeping various versions of your resume and cover letters is a great idea…it will give you a great start when you want to update it in the future.
Stay connected — by updating your preferred email address in B-Link! B-Link will allow you to easily contact other Bucknellians and also connect to Alumni Career Services where, among many other great things, you can connect to Beyond the Bridge to have access to jobs for alumni. This would also be a good time to join the LinkedIn Bucknell Alumni group.
And if you miss me…you can always still read our blog 🙂
