This Thursday, March 31 at 7:00 PM in Dana 113, Tim Willeford from IBM will present “IBM Corporate Service Corps: My experience in Egypt.”
Here is an overview of the talk: “IBM’s has a Corporate Social Responsibility and leadership development program called Corporate Service Corps. Modeled in part after the Peace Corps, it sends teams of high-performing employees from around the world on 3-4 week long overseas assignments to help improve the lives and circumstances of the country they are in. Tim Willeford from IBM spent one month in Egypt in 2010, and will share his story.”
As the Global Communications Lead with IBM’s University Initiatives and Venture Capital Group, Tim Willeford creates and executes the worldwide communications strategy for IBM’s Global University Programs and Academic Initiative, as well as IBM’s Venture Capital Group initiatives including IBM’s SmartCamp entrepreneur events. Over the past 16 years, Tim has held various leadership positions in marketing communications and consulting in the United States, Germany, and Hong Kong. His earlier portfolio at IBM encompasses directing communications and media relations for IBM’s senior vice president of enterprise transformation, IBM’s chief information officer, IBM Global Technology Services, IBM xSeries and BladeCenter systems. Tim also managed global communications for IBM’s Project Big Green global initiative, where he coordinated the launch in more than 50 countries in 2007. For his role in the launch, he received the Gerstner Award for Client Excellence, one of IBM’s top honors. Prior to joining IBM in 2004, Tim held various communications positions at HP, Compaq, among other organizations. Tim also played professional baseball overseas before embarking on his business career.
