Position: Junior Fellow – Junior Fellowship Program
Organization: Stoneleigh Foundation
Location: Harrisburg, PA
Deadline: 02/28/11
About the Fellowship:
Our Junior Fellowship program has a dual purpose. First, it cultivates a new generation of leaders in the fields of child welfare and juvenile justice, and allied fields such as education and behavioral. It provides an opportunity for exceptional recent graduates interested in social policy and public service to work for one year at an organization in the public or non-profit sectors in Philadelphia and Harrisburg. The Fellowship is designed to provide dynamic, hands-on experience for the Junior Fellow resulting in a tangible work product that advances the career of the young professional.
While intended to develop the skills of young people, the Junior Fellowship also advances the work of the partner organization. Successful projects give partner organizations an opportunity to strengthen their program through policy, research, or advocacy work, and provide the Fellow with the chance to gain new skills or experience. The projects should have a discrete start and end point and allow the primary activities to be completed by the Fellow within one year.
Qualifications:
- Junior Fellow candidates should have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree within the last three years.
- Candidates who are completing graduate degrees are eligible to apply. The candidate must demonstrate that s/he can effectively balance a full-time fellowship and partial coursework.
- Current employees of the applicant organization are not eligible to apply for a Junior Fellowship at that organization.
