What is OCR?

On-Campus Recruiting, also known as OCR, provides Bucknell students the opportunity to interview with employers who visit the Career Center during the Fall and Spring semesters. OCR interviews occur from mid September through mid November for the Fall semester and late January through mid April for the Spring semester. Resume submission deadlines can vary but are typically every Monday night by 11:59 p.m. but it doesn’t hurt to check the BRIDGE often! You’ll find OCR listings on the BRIDGE. It always helps […]

Why YOU should take advantage of on-campus fairs

Since their inception, career fairs have been an event designed to help students interact with employers, and many students used the opportunity to get their resumes into the hands of recruiters. Now, however, some career services practitioners are finding that some employers are not accepting resumes at career fairs and, instead, are directing students to apply online. How should students approach the career fair if this trend continues? What is their purpose for attending? Mike Mrozowski, chief of the recruitment and development branch of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s human resources division, says that students should take advantage of the […]

Going Up? Perfect Your Elevator Pitch

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHgV6F6zvsE Clearly MIT knows the importance of Elevator Pitches and I think it’s time you learned too. In 2007 MIT started an Elevator Pitch Contest with entrepreneurs from across the country pitching their ideas to judging panels of venture capitalists looking for the next big thing. An elevator pitch, so named because it can be delivered in the time span of an elevator ride, is usually a brief overview of an idea for a product, service or project BUT it can also be used at a career fair or a networking event. Elevator pitches are a great way to introduce […]
