It’s post-Expo and we are in full swing with interviews on campus! We talk a lot about tips for interviewing: what to wear, questions to ask, but we also need to discuss another topic: the ethics of interviewing on campus. An interview is a business commitment; once you apply and are granted an interview, it is expected that you will attend. It is our policy that, if you are a no-show for an interview, you will be suspended from the BRIDGE immediately. The Career Development Center does not advocate missing classes for interviews and we recommend that you do your […]
With On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) in full swing we thought this post from Glassdoor.com Blog by Debra Wheatman was very pertinent. Enjoy! Good Luck! Schedule a Mock Interview! Come to Interview Tips (every Monday at 5pm)! In this article Debra explains, “It is normal and expected that you will be slightly nervous. The art of listening should not be diminished! Oftentimes, people tend to talk more when they are nervous. During an interview this can work against you.” She goes on to explain the other problem with failing to listen, “you may miss some important clues or red flags related to […]
A fun article in honor of the first day of OCR You all should know by now that I LOVE NPR! Yup. I say it loud and I say it proud: I love NPR! I love it even more when I can use it for work (like we did when discussing Elevator Pitches). Well, courtesy of NPR comes yet another post from me, this time about preschoolers and interviewing. It really made me laugh. Then it made me feel bad for these little tykes. My preschool days were carefree bliss of making play dough (and of course taste testing it), […]
from Career Online Blog! by Adil Syed Interviews can be a harrying experience. You want the job, but the stress of having to answer questions correctly while making sure not to commit any behavioral mistakes can lead to a disaster. Here are the top 10 tips from Career Online Blog! to help you out…and remember you can also come into the CDC for mock interviews, which are a great way to accomplish the #1 tip. Tip 1: Role Play Prepare in advance for the questions you may be asked by the interviewer. Practice sounding natural while having your responses ready. […]
At the end of every interview they turn to you and say “Do you have any questions for us?” and if you answered “No,” it’s not the worst mistake but if you really want to wow them having a few questions is a great way to make a GREAT impression. Thinking of questions for the interviewer is hard though, especially when you have a lot of other stress, that’s why when I saw this post by youtern I wanted to share it. So here it is…interview questions YOU can ask (and help make a great impression)! Interviews aren’t a one […]
When I was in graduate school I had to do a mock interview in front of my entire class. Then the class, as well as my Professor (who had 7 Masters and 2 Ph.D’s –no joke!) critiqued me. As horrifying as this sounds, it was every bit! But it was also amazingly helpful. I think I owe all the jobs I’ve gotten due to that class. While I was doing some research on Mock Interview tips I came across this great post on SUNY Cortland’s Career Services blog and had to share it. On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) starts February 7th, get […]

Do not wait until the last minute to sign up for an interview slot. Do so as soon as you receive an email inviting you schedule an interview. Often times, the times you are available may already be filled […]
On-Campus Recruiting begins today so we thought we’d share some tips on dressing for an interview. Although certain qualifications and skills are mandatory for many jobs, the interview can often make or break one’s chances. First impressions say a lot, and what interviewers absorb in the first 30 seconds is what they are most likely to remember. You’ll want that first impression to be not just a good one, but also a great one. Not only do you need to keep a cool composure, be confident in your skills and know all about the organization you are interviewing with, you […]
On-Campus Recruiting, also known as OCR, provides Bucknell students the opportunity to interview with employers who visit the Career Center during the Fall and Spring semesters. Full-time entry-level jobs and summer internships, primarily in business and technical fields, are offered through the OCR program. OCR interviews occur from mid September through mid November for the Fall semester and late January through mid April for the Spring semester. Resume submission deadlines can vary but are typically every Monday night by 11:59 p.m. but it doesn’t hurt to check the BRIDGE often! You’ll find OCR listings on the BRIDGE. It always helps […]
