Love Your Money? Learn How To Keep It!

Is your dream to swim in your money like Scrooge McDuck? Just me. OK. Either way, you work hard for your money and if you love it as much as I do you’ll at least want to learn how to budget, invest and save as much of it as possible. Budgets in college vary greatly from those in the “real world” and once outside the bubble you’ll also be expected to know how to set up your 401K (or other retirement package), do your taxes…eventually get a mortgage! All this stuff can be overwhelming but if you start learning and […]

February started with Spring in the air and a prediction of 6 more weeks of winter which hardly seems plausible or unfair since it hasn’t even started. What IS a Case Interview?

On-Campus Recruiting is starting back up and I thought now would be a good time to talk about Case Interviews. You may have heard this term thrown around but do you really know what a case interview is? If you are hoping to go into the management, consulting or the investment banking area then you definitely NEED TO KNOW because a case interview will almost definitely be a part of your interview process. In a case interview the job applicant is given a question, situation, problem or challenge and asked to solve it. The case problem  or challenge is often […]

Show Me John Legend

That you did Bucknell, that you did. And now I’m going to take something cool and turn it into career advice. I know…I hope I don’t ruin it for you. Last night I attended the John Legend talk and performance and was blown away, much like the rest of the crowd (at least according to Twitter).  I don’t know if it’s just because I work at the CDC or not but I felt like his talk was very much about careers; not being afraid to take risks, following your passion, trying something new, failing and starting over. His talk had […]

Hollywood is lying to you

It should come as no surprise to you that Hollywood’s portrayal of “real life” is less than real. No that’s being too nice, it’s a flat out farce. Reality TV is anything but reality and shows like Gossip Girl makes it seem like once you get into one Ivy you can go to any of them and internships are easy to walk away from, especially for a frenemy. If anyone here thought these disillusions were based on anything resembling real life then I’m sorry to have to burst your bubble. Why, you may be asking, is this relevant to a […]

Welcome back, after what was hopefully a relaxing and enjoyable winter break! The campus just wasn’t the same without you here. And now classes begin tomorrow and, if you haven’t started already, now is a good time to get moving on your internship or job search. Here’s three tips to get you started: Get […]

Internship & Job Fair

One week from today classes start up again. Now maybe that isn’t the best opening line I could use but it’s the truth.  I start there because I’m going to remind you about the on-campus Internship & Job Fair that we’ll be hosting on Jan. 31st.
