Post-College City Guides Are Back!

…well are coming back. I know you don’t want to hear this but with only ONE semester left of your senior year it’s time to start thinking of where you may call home come May 2013. That’s why we started our “City Guide” series. Last Spring Semester Laura Carlson ’12 profiled Houston, Denver, Chicago, Boston, Madison, San Francisco, and Philadelphia. Email Vacation and Signatures Settings

In the stress of finals and the excitement of heading home for a month, it is easy to forget minor details – like setting up a vacation response. It may help if a potential employer happens to send you an email during this time to make sure they are aware that you are currently on break. It doesn’t have to be long or fancy. Something easy and quick. Something to let them know that you may not be checking […]

Small Town Thinking

I am not talking about ignorance here, I am talking about the mindset you get when you limit your thoughts to a distance or a radius. Let me explain: I had to run up to the library the other day and as I was preparing to leave I found myself wondering if there was anything else that I needed to drop off “up there” – to be efficient? to be lazy? – I’m not sure. Then I realized as I was walking up there that, for some reason, I was thinking of this trip as a trek; as if walking to the […]

Pass the potatoes and your card please…

Take time over Thanksgiving Break to network with those around the dinner table – you’d be surprised to find out who works where and does what, and even better, who that person may know and be able to refer you to as well. Let friends and family know you are looking for a job or an internship and you may find out that your very own connections may be very helpful to you in your search!
