We Are *Here* for You

As you think about starting the semester and all the new pieces of your learning and living on campus, remember your career planning and next steps are an important part of your experience as a student. The staff at the Center for Career Advancement (CCA) have been available throughout the summer and are prepared to help you make a plan at whatever stage you find yourself.

Appointments can be made by:

While the Center for Career Advancement staff will be in the building, visits will be by appointment only. We ask that you contact us first via phone, email, or make an appointment in Handshake as we are equipped to help you remotely.  In those instances where we need to have an in-person meeting, we’ll be glad to arrange it.

Join us for “Career Zoom@Noon” – Open group sessions with a career coach/counselor every Monday – Friday starting August 17th; sign up in Handshake to access the zoom link.

Many of our career resources can be found online:

Action Steps You Can Take Right Now

  • Pack a suit/professional attire: Although you may be talking to employers virtually, we recommend you dress professionally as if you were sitting across from them in-person. If you don’t own a suit yet, be sure to bring a dress shirt and jacket.
  • Prepare Your Resume: Virtual Career Fairs will be held September 3rd and 10th. Don’t wait until the last minute to prepare, update or proofread your resume.
  • Create or Update your LinkedIn Profile: Virtual career exploration and employment searches require an online professional presence.
  • Update Your Handshake Profile: If your profile is updated, you will be connected with more opportunities that match your interests.
  • Learn How to Register and Prepare for the Virtual Fair: Check out the Handshake Guide for students.
  • Prepare for Virtual Interviews: While employers recruit at different times of the year, depending on their size, industry and the state of the economy, there will be some employers interviewing in the early Fall. Don’t be unprepared when that great opportunity comes along!
