Peer Picks: On-campus Internships with CDC & West Branch Literary Journal

vladAs the deadline for applying to work at the CDC as an Intern is approaching, this week’s peer picks will be focused on positions available on campus:

1 CDC Intern – various positions, apply by Feb 26

2 West Branch Literary Journal Publishing Internship, apply by March 11

The first opportunity is right here in the fabulous CDC where you could join the staff in one of the available positions in: Alumni Career Services, Alumni Research, Bucknell Public Interest Program, Externships, Pre-Law, Social Media and Marketing, Field Trips and Career Events, Pre-Finance and for the Summer Intern position. Students of all majors are invited to apply to work at the CDC, as there is a wide variety of specialty areas. You may be helping to organize CDC events,  managing databases or creating social media content, depending on your role.  You’ll also be on the frontline, working the front desk and advising students by providing one-on-one assistance, educating them about the wide variety of CDC resources and by scheduling appointments.

CDC Interns love the fact that they are the first to learn about career opportunities and events and that they receive training on job searching, interview etiquette, resumes and cover letters. Not to mention the fact that the office is stocked with a variety of great food from CDC events all around campus. The deadline for applying on the Bridge is February 26th.

The second position is with West Branch, Bucknell’s professional, nationally distributed literary journal, who is offering a competitive, semester-length internship in the fall for students interested in the world of literary publishing. Working at a literary journal at Bucknell that has national distribution is a great opportunity to gain exposure to the publishing industry and to learn about all the levels of magazine production. It is also a great resume booster, as you’ll be working on completing your studies, as well as getting relevant work experience at the same time. Another benefit is that after the successful conclusion of the internship, you will receive one non-traditional study course credit for the work performed.

The fact that you’ll be working in such a variety of roles makes this internship a unique proposition, especially since it can be tailored to your unique experience and interests. Duties may include joining editors in regular meetings to review submitted works, conducting interviews by email with authors, overseeing the submission database or evaluating manuscripts. Be sure to apply on the Bridge before March 11th.
