Public Service Careers with Raj Thangavelu ’98

Raj Thangavelu ’98, member of the Alumni Board and the Bucknell Public Interest Program (BPIP) Advisory Committee, will be back on campus for Homecoming weekend.  Raj is a longtime federal employee who works in the Washington metro area.  He graduated from Bucknell with a B.A. in Politics and Economics and obtained his MPA from the University of Texas, Austin. He will be offering two programs and conducting mock interviews while he is here.

  1. Public Service Careers
    Wednesday, October 21, 5-6 pm, ELC 217, Refreshments will be served.
    Raj will talk about undergraduate course trends he’s seeing, internships, possible grad school options (MPA, MPP, MBA), etc. He will also share his career path, what he did before attending grad school, course trends he sees with current students, specifically in the areas of statistics/demographics, internships he had, and what led him to pursue an MPA degree.
  2. Federal Hiring Workshop – USAJobs Website Explained: How to Apply, Building a Federal Resume
    Thursday, Oct 22, 12:00-12:50 pm, Vaughan Lit – Williard Smith Library, Lunch will be provided.
    Raj will provide a hands-on workshop on how to use USAjobs.gov and how to build a federal resume.

Raj will also be available for individual appointments at the CDC to review resumes, conduct mock interviews.
