Now that the snow is mostly gone I can finally say: Happy Spring everyone! Here’s what we have for this weeks’ peer picks:

1. Cornell Outdoor Education Program Internship

2. IBM Security Services Specialist Internship

Always gloomy when thinking that work has to mean being stuck in a cubicle? Think again: If you’re passionate about the great outdoors, like to work with people and be a role model, an internship with Cornell’s Outdoor Education program in Ithaca, NY might be right up your alley.

This internship hires outdoor instructors with a mix of personal outdoor experience, first aid, leadership and human relations skills. At the beginning of the program you will attend a weekend of training and two evening New Staff Orientations. There be the opportunity to reflect on your experience and complement your classroom learning with real world leadership and team opportunities. If you are currently a member of Bucknell’s Outing Club or simply interested in the outdoors, this sounds like the internship for you! In order to apply, you must fill out an instructor application by April 10th.

As technology is becoming more ingrained in our lives so do the risks associated with it. Working as a Security Services Specialist during your sophomore year summer at IBM is a way to learn more about the IT Security industry and get a foot in the door at the largest Information Technology Services provider in the world. This internship will challenge you to apply the knowledge learned in your classes while working side by side with skilled security analysts. You will have the opportunity work with security platforms, meet enterprise level clients’ security needs and be mentored and coached by some of the brightest and most talented Security experts in the industry.

The application consists of your resume, unofficial transcript and a 1 page cover letter on why you are interested in this internship. The deadline for the application is April 13th. Applications should be submitted by email to ao010@bucknell.edu. After submission, an online portion of the application should be completed.
