Mike Pressl ’12 is a recent Bucknell graduate contacted our office to tell us a little bit about Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) in Berlin, where he is pursuing a Master’s degree. Mike thought some other Bucknell students may want to know more about this program. Since it seemed really interesting we thought we’d pass along the information:

Here’s more on ICD from Mike:

The ICD is a small organization, founded in 2001, but offers a variety of short- and long-term academic opportunities, ranging from week-long certificate programs to the 2-year MA Program I am currently doing in International Relations and Cultural Diplomacy. Right now we are trying to attract more students and ultimately grow in size and scope, which is why I am reaching out to the CDC.

If you know of any students who might be interested in pursuing further International Relations, Economics, Political Science, or Culture-related education and are interested in living in Europe (Germany, Italy, and/or Romania), I would really appreciate if you can pass on the attached information or give them my e-mail address. The programs are very affordable compared to their American counterparts and present one-of-a-kind opportunities that won’t be found at a normal university – attached is a picture of me with the former President of Latvia after having interviewed him at an ICD conference last semester.

Here is a “Call for Applications Call for Applications” which provides a bit of information regarding upcoming programs. Additional information can be found on the ICD website. I would also be happy to answer any questions students might have about cultural diplomacy, the ICD or any of its programs [email us at the CDC if you’d like Mike’s info for questions].

I have had a great experience so far, and I think other Bucknell students would really enjoy the experience as well.

We hope this information from Mike has piqued your interest. We’ve also had students participate in, and find success with, the Mountbatten Institute – just another option for gaining experience after graduation abroad!
