Summer 2014 Funding for Entrepreneurial Projects

We saw this great opportunity in the Message Center and wanted to make sure everyone saw it: The Accenture Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fellowship and Reed-Garman Engineering Entrepreneurship Fund Bucknell University – Summer 2014.This is a great opportunity to apply for funding and spend the summer developing your idea for a new product, service, or technology.

The Summer 2014 Accenture Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fellowship and the Reed-Garman Engineering Entrepreneurship Fund will provide Bucknell students with support to develop a new product, service, or technology. During the course of the summer fellowship, students are expected to dedicate their time to developing a business idea or technological innovation. Projects intended to be for-profit businesses or non-profit social entrepreneurship initiatives are eligible for consideration.

Bucknell will support students who present creative ideas for new products, services, or technologies that require further development in the form of technical refinements and/or market research. Reviewers will make awards to support projects that they believe can make significant progress toward marketability during the summer. Projects may be for developing original business ideas or for social entrepreneurship projects designed to improve people’s lives through new technologies or services. Competitors who participated in the 2013 Business Pitch Competition or other business competitions are encouraged to apply for summer 2014 support. Download the Application

Eligibility: Proposed projects must focus solely on refining creative ideas for new products, services, or technologies that require further development in the form of technical refinements and/or market research. No solicitation of sales, investment, ownership, or similar financial transactions related to those new products, services, or technologies will be permitted during the fellowship period, except for very limited transactions that are pre-approved and are integral to testing market research or technologies.

The Accenture Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fellowship is open to students from all majors. The program is made possible through a grant from the Accenture Skills to Succeed Program.

The Reed-Garman Engineering Entrepreneurship Fund is open only to students in the College of Engineering. The Fund was created through an alumni gift honoring Professor Reed and Professor Garman, longtime members of the College of Engineering faculty.

Fellowships are open to current Bucknell students who will be returning for the 2014-15 academic year as undergraduate students. Current seniors (class of 2014) are not eligible.

Special training and mentorship sessions with Accenture and alumni consultants will be available to recipients.

Expectations: At the end of the ten-week experience, Fellows will submit a written report plus relevant attachments describing their activities, results, and the use of funds.
