Apply to the MIT CONVERGE Program, an on-campus graduate school preview weekend held from November 4-7, 2010. Online applications are available at web.mit.edu/converge. This year’s application deadline is August 31, 2010.
The program mission seeks to increase the presence of underrepresented and underserved students in MIT’s graduate programs. To achieve its mission, the program :
- Selects candidates who form a strong, talented applicant pool
- Exposes selected students to MIT’s graduate programs, facilities, and campus life
- Connects participants with MIT faculty, staff, graduate students, and other CONVERGE students involved in the graduate school admissions process
- Covers all expenses for the preview weekend
Participants are selected by MIT faculty and invited to campus to learn about the Institute and graduate student life. Successful applicants are notified by email inviting them to attend the CONVERGE fall weekend. Expenses for all invited students will be fully paid.

*Information on graduate student life
*Graduate admissions session with department admissions chairs
*Tours of MIT campus and the Boston/Cambridge area
*Meetings with faculty and department visits
Program Eligibility
*US citizens, permanent residents, or students attending a US college or university
*Students should be within 1-2 years of attending graduate school and have strong research skills
*minimum 3.5 grade point average
*genuine interest in obtaining a PhD
A complete application consists of the following materials:
*application form
*unofficial undergraduate transcripts (students must submit official transcripts if invited to participate in the program)
*two (third optional) strong faculty recommendation letters
