Her presentation will share her experience working with two other Peace Corps volunteers in the community of Gualate located in the mountains of the Northern Province of Puerta Plata. The focus of this work was on: bringing clean water to the community, improving public health, health education for women and youth (HIV/AIDS, STD’s), women’s self-esteem and empowerment, environmental sustainability, and creating a micro-credit bank. FACTS about Peace Corps at Bucknell: Bucknell ranks 21st among the nation’s colleges and universities with less than 5,000 undergraduates. Since 1961, more than 240 graduates from Bucknell University have served in the Peace Corps. During Homecoming I had the great opportunity to attend a panel discussion that was sponsored by the 125 years of co-education celebration. It was an amazing panel with outstanding alumni–all with different points of view, industries, passions, but 1 thing in common: the desire and fortitude to become a successful entrepreneur.
