Student Prespective: Bucknell Alum and CDC Creating a Dream Internship

By Holly Hodges `10 Every little kid has an idea, a dream of what they want to be when they’re older. While I had many possibilities that didn’t quite pan out, being the tooth fairy or performing on Broadway, one interest stuck with me. Growing up in Southern California, surrounded by amusement parks, I always had a strong desire to design rides. It wasn’t until I began my engineering courses at Bucknell that I realized someone actually has that dream job, and it was often engineers. This was when I decided to avidly pursue turning my childhood dream into a […]

SummerBRIDGE

It is never too early to start thinking about summer. I usually start pining for summer by August 31st and by the time the sun goes down on Labor Day I’m already nostalgic for the past summer and day dreaming for the future one to come. And while it’s raining, snowing or sleeting every Tuesday or Friday (seems to be the Lewisburg pattern) I sink into a hibernated depression and start to make plans to create a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel. One thing to add to this day dream is the possibility of a fun summer […]

Entre-Vous To Entrepreneur – Advice from Alumni

During Homecoming I had the great opportunity to attend a panel discussion that was sponsored by the 125 years of co-education celebration. It was an amazing panel with outstanding alumni–all with different points of view, industries, passions, but 1 thing in common: the desire and fortitude to become a successful entrepreneur. This panel should not have been missed but alas it was…by many. The information was so good that I decided that I should share some snippets. The best pieces of advise that I gleaned from this panel are as follows: Network: Take advantage and use the opportunities you have […]

Fall Back Your Clock; Spring Forward your Internship Seach

I wake up the morning after in a fog of confusion…wondering if the time that is showing on my alarm clock is the “right” time and inevitably get on the track to that deep question…what does time really mean? I won’t bore you with this existential argument that I go through but the point it is I got thinking this past weekend and I’m wondering if anyone else is in the same boat. Perhaps you are thinking about getting in gear for your internship search? It is a great idea to get a head […]
