As part of Engineering Week we will be co-hosting a great student/alumni networking event on Friday, February 27th from 3:30 – 5:00 in Hunt Formal Living Room.
First Year Engineering 100 students – take advantage of the Alumni returning for Homecoming and attend the annual Connections: Friday, October 31 at 3:00 in Larison Dining Room.
The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) will be hosting the largest Asian American career fair and conference, taking place October 16-18, 2014 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA. Over 70 companies will be represented, including Fortune 500 companies and government organizations such as ITW, Shell, GE, Nissan, P&G, NAVSEA, and many more. Sponsoring companies will be holding on-site interviews for over 4,000 internships and full-time positions. The career fair is open to everyone and registration is FREE (www.saseconnect.org/conference)
Goldman Sachs is hosting a STEM Symposium on Friday, October 31. For students interested in attending, the application deadline is Sunday, October 5 at 11:59 PM. This one-day program is for African American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American or Female college sophomores and juniors who are studying science, technology, engineering, or mathematics who are interested in exploring the numerous career paths in the financial services industry, and learning more about summer internship opportunities at the firm.

Another great opportunity we saw in the Message Center that we wanted to make sure you didn’t miss: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is now accepting applications for the 2014 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships (SURF) programs at its Gaithersburg, MD, and Boulder, CO campuses. These programs provide research opportunities for undergraduate students to work with internationally known NIST scientists and gain exposure to cutting-edge research. The SURF programs are supported by the National Science Foundation, and each summer, students spend about 11 weeks at one of the NIST sites, meeting peers and gaining valuable hands-on research experience.
