One thing that isn’t going down in this economy: The Sun

Today’s great insight comes via Experience’s To Green or not to Green blog and the following posted, entitled “ Solar Energy and the Job Market” was written by Megan McLaughlin. From one Megan to another, although I came up with the clever, new title (If you haven’t learned yet you must ‘toot your own horn’ as the old adage goes…perhaps a topic for another post?). OK enough already, on to the great article… The economy has certainly seen better days and although jobs are few and far between, many companies have recently seen an increase in the availability of jobs. Consider the Nonprofit Sector to Expand Your Employment Options

By Maureen Crawford Hentz Too often, people making the transition from for-profits to nonprofits assume that they have nothing to bring to the table but an interest in the nonprofit’s mission. They forget about the important skills that they bring to the table. At a large national environmental conference, I was presenting a workshop for career changers. After the workshop, a woman approached me and said she was interested in breaking into the environmental nonprofit field, but didn’t have any experience. When I inquired as to what she’d been doing, she told me she had been working in public relations […]

Entre-Vous To Entrepreneur – Advice from Alumni

During Homecoming I had the great opportunity to attend a panel discussion that was sponsored by the 125 years of co-education celebration. It was an amazing panel with outstanding alumni–all with different points of view, industries, passions, but 1 thing in common: the desire and fortitude to become a successful entrepreneur. This panel should not have been missed but alas it was…by many. The information was so good that I decided that I should share some snippets. The best pieces of advise that I gleaned from this panel are as follows: Network: Take advantage and use the opportunities you have […]
