Student Perspective – The BRIDGE: Bursting the Bubble

Bucknell has often been referred to as a bubble. It is a campus filled with brick buildings, athletic facilities and breath-taking views of the Pennsylvania landscape. Within these warm brick buildings are numerous services provided by the University in an effort to burst this bubble. Of these services, the best is arguably the Bridge. Students who want to explore careers in the non-profit and government sectors have a great resource right here on campus: the Bucknell Public Interest Program (BPIP) and the BPIP Internship Fund. BPIP educates students about non-profit and public service careers, and helps students learn about how to find internships and jobs in these sectors. The BPIP Internship Fund provides financial support for undergraduate students (first-year students, sophomores, and juniors), who have secured full-time, unpaid summer internships with non-profit organization and government offices. You may have noticed that not all industries recruit and advertise their internship (and job) opportunities at the same times. Many large financial, accounting, and engineering companies do their hiring in the fall semesters, while government tends to hire in early winter, and arts/media in the spring.
