For this week, I am choosing to focus on a paid internship for rising juniors and seniors in New York City for the Showtime Summer Awards. If you were to be accepted to this position, you would be an intern within the Corporate Communications department at Showtime Networks Inc. You would be responsible for completing entry packets (entry forms, synopses, check recs, DVD ordering) for SAG, PGA, DGA, WGA, for booking airfares, airport cars and hotels for Emmy nominees, for assisting with collecting deal memos for hair, makeup and stylists for nominated talent, for reviewing episodes and looking for 12, 15 and 30 second clips to be used at award ceremonies, and for maintaining the awards calendar, series premiere doc, and the order of DVDs. Finally, you would also be able to maintain director-writer-synopses doc for each series and to contact award organizations, request award deadlines, ceremony dates and nomination/winner announcement dates and voting periods for submissions report. The necessary skills that you should bring to the table are superior computer skills, strong phone etiquette, very strong written and oral communication skills, and strong interest in awards and TV public relations. My second peer pick is targeted towards the seniors who are looking to dedicate one year towards addressing cultural inclusion through his or her medium in an international environment of his or her choosing. ACI’s Artist-in-Residence Program cultivates and connects leaders in the arts field committed to cultural inclusion and social equity on a global scale. The program seeks to educate, inform, and grow the artistic and personal skills of participating artists while stimulating and enhancing the arts communities in which they work and live, ultimately supporting leaders in the arts field to become sustainable change agents working toward cultural inclusion and social equity. If you feel that you would benefit from such an experience as a leader in the arts field, have a strong portfolio that illustrates a thoughtful investigation of his or her art form in a community context, and like you can demonstrate proven leadership skills in community-based social justice work – do not forget to apply on the BRIDGE by Monday, March 31st as well!
