Sophie Hattery ’16, CDC Marketing and Social Media Specialist, BRIDGE Peer Pick of the Week: URBN
This week, I wanted to only focus on the big date: Monday, November 11! The reason why this date is so important is that URBN is offering a plethora of paid internships in Philadelphia for photography, product development, marketing, design, buying, store operations, visual display, styling, and information technology. URBN is a company responsible for producing three of the most popular brands among students here at Bucknell: Urban Outfitters, Free People, and Anthropologie. If you apply now and receive an interview, you will advance to the next step and attend URBN’s Recruiting Day in January 2014!
In order to apply, you must submit a resume along with a cover letter that answers these questions: Tell us why your chosen brand (Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Free People, Terrain, or BHLDN) is your favorite? For the brand you chose, what are three other places our customer would go for inspiration (other than our stores) and why? What do you want to get out of your summer internship experience at URBN?
In addition, you will need to electronically present an inspiration board (helpful hint: we blogged about visions boards awhile ago, this post may help) (8.5 x 11 PDF) that demonstrates their understanding of their chosen brand. Creativity is important, so there are no major guidelines other than the PDF size and that URBN wants to know what inspires you! Note that also your resume, cover letter, and inspiration board should all be submitted in 1 PDF. All creative/design roles should also submit work samples, and anything additional that makes your application more compelling is welcomed.
The work that you will perform during these internships is very active. You will be able to take photos at shoots, set up and breakdown photo sets, assist with digital technology needs, track garments in overseas factories, act as a liaison between buyers and vendors on purchase orders, assist with larger partnership campaigns, help with social media and advertising, attending open buys, help with floor plan, keep track of inventory, etc. If fashion is your calling, and this interests you, be sure to apply on the BRIDGE by Monday, November 11!
We highlight a few Peer Picks that we think you’ll find particularly interesting every week. Learn more by checking out each pick on the BRIDGE. And while you’re there, see what other interesting opportunities you find! BRIDGE application deadlines are usually Monday nights at 11:59 pm. If you have any technical difficulties with your application, be sure to email recruiting@bucknell.edu before the deadline and we will be able to help you.
