Thanks for your email, I’m on Spring Break!

With a blizzard brewing from  Chicago down to Baltimore (and Philly in between) it’s hard to feel like Spring is in the air but judging by how packed the library is it’s easy to see that midterms are here and with that we know Spring Break is just around the corner. And I for one say enjoy it while you have it! But it is important to remember the the “real world” does not have such luxuries and employers may contact you over the week you are away.  So while your gearing up for your well-deserved break you should think about activating your vacation mail/auto-responses and changing voicemail greetings.

If you are not planning to check your email messages, you can create an auto-reply message that can inform any potential employers who may be trying to contact you. You can set when this message is to start and end so you can set it up ahead of time and not worry about remembering to turn it off –luckily Bmail makes this very easy!

Here’s an example to help get you started:

Thank you for your email.  I will be traveling starting March 8th and returning on March 18th. During that time I will not have access to email but will respond upon my return.

And here’s a fun one to show you that we do have a sense of humor over here at the CDC.
