Recent Bucknell students have had success obtaining Fulbright grants. Two years ago, a Bucknellian received an award in Environmental Science to study local activism in the area around Lake Baikal in Russia. Last year, two students received grants. One student won a grant to study vocal performances in Vienna in an attempt to enhance her own mastery of the flute. A second student is in China working with a consortium of American and Chinese universities working to improve the secondary education system. A current Bucknell student is waiting to hear whether she will have the opportunity to spend a year in Russia helping local students improve their English skills.
The Fulbright grants are very competitive, with between four and thirty applicants per award. So it is very important that you begin the application process well before the campus deadline in September. However, Bucknell students are well qualified to compete for grants. If you are possibly interested in applying for a Fulbright grant, please come to the presentation and contact, Assoc Prof of Mathematics Greg Adams for more discussion.
