Did you have a great Externship experience last year? Did you miss the Externship program last year? Well now’s your chance to do it all again or try it out for the first time!
In order to provide students with opportunities to network with professionals and gain experience, the CDC has decided to open all unmatched externship opportunities to the junior class. Juniors have the opportunity to apply for up to 6 externships on the BRIDGE. The deadline to apply is Tuesday, Nov. 30 11:59pm.
Externships are short-term (1-2 day) job shadow experiences that occur during winter break where a student can learn more about a particular industry and the world of work while also making a valuable networking contact. Externships have led to internships and assisted students with professional networking. A number of juniors may have participated as a sophomore. We strongly encourage juniors to take advantage of this unique opportunity to connect with an employer during winter break.
Here are the steps that juniors who want to apply to externships need to take:
As soon as you can:
- Have resume critiqued by the CDC – Stop in for first come/first served walk in hours 1:30-3:30 M-F or call 570-577-1238 to make an appointment.
By November 30, 2010:
- Read, sign & deliver Externship Participation Agreement (last page of the Externship Handbook found here) to the CDC (Botany Building)
- Apply for up to six externship opportunities on the BRIDGE by November 30, 2010
- For each individual externship, upload a Resume and Cover Letter to the BRIDGE
- Enter the order of preference for the externships you applied to
By Mid – December– You will receive your externship match or a list of alternative externship choices via your Bucknell e-mail so make sure you check your Bmail even when you are home for Winter Break!
