Yale Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics
Intensive Summer Bioethics Program
June 1 – July 29, 2011
New Haven, CT
Yale Interdisciplinary Center for Bioethics offers an intensive summer program in bioethics for national and international participants (undergraduates, graduate students, and others). The program is an eight-week immersion in the field of bioethics through lectures, seminars, written work, and site visits to The Hastings Center, CT Hospice in Branford, the Monsanto Corporation, and an ecological exploration of Long Island Sound via schooner. The program draws from the fields of medical practice & research, law, religion, and environmental studies, among others.
Tuition for 2011 is $750 for undergraduates and $1000 for graduate students and others. Dormitory-style housing, situated within walking distance of lectures and seminars, is available for a separate (inexpensive) cost, or students can make their own living arrangements.
Interested parties can apply directly, but university schools and departments are also encouraged to nominate students and facilitate their application. The deadline for US students for the summer 2011 program is January 15, 2011. Due to VISA issues, foreign students should apply by November 30, 2010. Applications after that date will still be considered, but we cannot make guarantees about your ability to get a VISA on time. However, it is also possible to defer your attendance until the following summer.
