The Bucknell Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is looking to find engineering candidates interested in the SBDC and client-facing projects who have electrical or mechanical engineering experience to fill two open positions: Manufacturing Innovation Fellow and Student Engineering Consultant. Both of the positions offer a great way for students to apply what they are learning in class and gain some great skills – including insight into consulting and small businesses. - The Manufacturing Innovation Fellow will engage in applied product design, hands-on prototyping, and manufacturing process development in a partnership project with Gilson Snow, a local manufacturer of snowboards and skis. This position will collaborate with Gilson in creating and commercializing a brand new product line of wakeboards for the international marketplace. The position will get to interact directly with professional and manufacturing personnel at Gilson.
- The Student Engineering Consultant will provide engineering assistance, product development, process development, materials selection, to small business clients, leading to economic impact including business startup, capital acquisition, and job creation in Pennsylvania small businesses. This position will learn to develop abstract ideas into marketable products or services through design, modelling, simulation, prototyping, and laboratory research investigations. The position will get to interact directly with small business owners and product developers.
