Interested in the environment and/or sustainability? Did you know there is an internship program through Bucknell with a stipend to help you with your summer research?! The Katherine Mabis McKenna Foundation Summer Environmental Internship is a University-wide program initially funded in 1982.
We thought some of you may like to know this so we are sharing the post from the Message Center about it in case you missed it – but we know you read the Message Center religiously…
Student applications are encouraged for Katherine Mabis McKenna Environmental Internships for the summer of 2017. Interns receive a $3500 stipend and may arrange a free residence hall room during the summer participation period. Successful applicants will be expected to engage in an independent research project of approximately 10 weeks duration under the sponsorship of a faculty member. Students must still be enrolled at Bucknell; graduating seniors are NOT eligible unless they have committed to attending graduate school at Bucknell. Project proposals from a wide variety of disciplines will be considered for funding. Research efforts should fall under the general heading of environmental studies and should focus on the West Branch Susquehanna River Bioregion, although there is some flexibility with this latter criterion. Students should contact potential advisors as soon as possible to discuss potential projects and begin proposal development. November/December meetings with faculty to learn about projects will prepare student to conduct a background literature review during winter recess and write and revise a research proposal prior to the deadline.
