What does it mean to be an activist and a professional? At this alumni panel, you will learn about how these four alumni are working to make a difference and advice for following a similar path. After the panel you will have the opportunity to visit informally with panelists to learn more and make connections.

- Ali Blumenstock ’11, National Program Manager, Business Forward; also was a regional administrator with Work for Progress and a Field Organizer with Green Corps
Bucknell Major: Environmental Studies - Kevin Brown ’06,Historian and Educator, National Park Service-ASEH Devils Hole pupfish history project, Pittsburgh, PA; also started a radio show and podcast called “History for the Future” which used interviews with historians, journalists, and economists to talk about the history behind current social issues and was a reporter at Remapping Debate
Bucknell Majors: Economics and History - Jennifer Mellon ’04, Interim Executive Director at Joint Council on International Children’s Services. Jennifer has a long history in the child welfare field, serving as Executive Director and Membership Manager of Joint Council from 2005-2008. Prior to serving as Interim ED, Jennifer functioned as Chief Development Officer when she returned to the staff in 2014. During her hiatus from the organization, Jennifer founded two start-up companies and served on the Board of The Campagna Center, which provides critical educational services to children and families in the DC Metro region.
Bucknell Majors: International Relations and Religion - Sweta Shah ’99 (participating remotely), Global Education in Emergencies Specialist, Plan International; Also worked for International Rescue Committee, UNICEF and the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies. Was inspired to enter into a career in activism after she participated in the 1st Bucknell Brigade to Nicaragua.
