Jefferson Medical College Field Trip and Alumni Panel

autismlogojeffersonApril 7th we will be taking a trip to Jefferson Medical College and attending “Bucknell and Medicine: The Role of Genetics and Neuroscience in Autism and Beyond” Snap Chats and Alumni Panel. Sign up on the BRIDGE by 4/2 for this great chance to tour Jefferson, learn about their Physician Shortage Area Program (PSAP), and have a chance to ask YOUR questions to Bucknell alumni currently at Jefferson.

The field trip is Monday, April 7th (Sign up is by 4/2) and the bus will leave campus at 10:30 a.m.

TRIP ITINERARY:

  • 10:30am: Depart campus – bring a lunch or snack to eat on the bus
  • 2:00pm: Arrive at Jefferson for tours by Bucknell alums: Steve Lazar ’13, Leah Bettner ’13, Bradford Bennett ’08, Alaina Chodoff  ’11, Jake Schroeder ’11
  • 3:00pm: Intro to Jefferson and the Physician Shortage Area Program (PSAP) with Dr. Howard  Rabinowitz, MD, Director of the PSAP, Department of Family and Community Medicine, TJUH
  • 3:30pm: Intro to Medical School Admissions, Jefferson Admissions and Q&A Session with Dr. Elizabeth Brooks, DPM, Director of Admissions, JMC
  • 4:00pm: Q&A and Meet and Greet with Bucknell Alums that are now Jefferson Medical College Students
  • 5:00pm-6:00pm: Leave Jefferson and some free time for you to get dinner on own and walk over to The Union League
  • 6:00pm: Registration and networking at The Union League of Philadelphia, 140 S. Broad St.
  • 6:30-8:00pm:  “Bucknell and Medicine: The Role of Genetics and Neuroscience in Autism and Beyond” Snap Chats and Panel. This panel comprises neuroscientists, neurodevelopmental pediatricians, genetic counselors and medical students to illustrate the ways in which Bucknell alumni, faculty and affiliates use their skills and training to help people in need. Our panel also features colleagues from the newly developed Geisinger – Bucknell Autism & Developmental Medicine Center, a collaboration between these two world-class institutions that represents a milestone in the University’s history.
  • 6:30-7:15 pm: Snap Chats from each panelist
  • 7:15-8:00 pm: Interactive Panel Discussion with audience Q&A
  • Panelists:

Students attending this field trip and panel will receive preparation materials from Missy Gutkowski.
Dress code is professional: A suit is appropriate or dress pants/skirts, ties for men; get more ideas from our Pinterest boards.
