1. CBS Sports 2014 Summer Internship Program
2. J.Crew IT Summer Internship

This week for my peer pick, I chose CBS Sports 2014 Summer Internship Program in New York, New York. For you football fans, you would be responsible for assisting the Sports Research Department in various capacities during the pre-NFL Season as a research intern under the Chief Researcher. You would also furnish cassettes to production staff during editing sessions. Another bonus to this internship would be that you would stay up to speed with the most recent interviews and feature segments as you log them on a frequent basis. Finally, you would order and update all research material media guides and sports manuals. Essentially, those of you who enjoy communications and seek to gain thorough knowledge of CBS Sports television production and research – do not be afraid to apply on the BRIDGE by Monday, February 28th! As long as you are a full-time undergraduate student in your junior or senior year, you are eligible to submit an application, resume, two letters of recommendation, and essay. While this opportunity is not paid, you are given a daily allowance of $8 for lunch and are reimbursed for local transportation to and from work. It is also flexible! As long as you are available from the beginning of May until the middle of August and are willing to work a minimum of two work days a week, you will be golden. If research is not the particular field you would like to explore for CBS Sports television, there is a plethora of other options at your disposal such as production, graphics, new media, program scheduling, and music too!

For my second peer pick, I knew that this choice would appeal to Bucknell’s preppy demographic. J. Crew is offering an IT Summer Internship in New York, New York for Computer Science, Information Technology, and Engineering Management majors. Not only is this internship paid, but it encourages you to work with all levels of the business from collaborating with other interns to the executive level for this global retailer. The internship program is ten weeks long, and you will have the chance to observe how J. Crew’s teams deal with merchandising, design, marketing, information technology, operations and business decisions. Dipping your feet into the fashion retail environment will help connect what you learned in the classroom to a passion you normally do not get to explore when dedicated to the Computer Science, IT, and Engineering Management majors. You will participate in various projects and initiatives to enhance J. Crew’s brands such as running an Agile methodology approach, completing team building activities, and the like. If you are a junior and want to explore several IT departments including roles as a Network Engineer, Windows Administrator, Vendor Relation Intern, POS Support Analyst, SAP Developer, Front End Developer, Java Developer, Content Analyst, Project Manager, Business Analyst, Enterprise Selling Support, VBA Developer, Security Analyst, and IT Asset Analyst – do not forget to apply on the BRIDGE by February 24th!
