Get started at the CDC with JUMPSTART – Exclusively for YOU (First Years)

I know you are all probably wondering why we are bugging you with this sort of stuff now, but BELIEVE YOUR MOTHER! It is never too early to start planning. Jumpstart isn’t about getting a job, it is about exploring yourself, your interests, discovering a plethora of industries and learning about the great tools and resources we have to help you along your way to a major, an externship, an internship, graduate school or a job!

JUMPSTART is a non-credit, 4-session special CDC program designed to aid you in career planning and development. We have 4 course offerings to choose from:

  • Tuesdays @ Noon: 3/23, 3/30, 4/6, 4/13
  • Wednesdays @ 10: 3/24, 3/31, 4/7, 4/14
  • Wednesdays @ 5 3/24, 3/31, 4/7, 4/14
  • Thursdays @ Noon: 3/25, 4/1, 4/8, 4/15

  • job search tools (including resumes, cover letters, and interviewing skills).

Benefits:

Planning for life after Bucknell can be overwhelming and confusing at times. This course will help to clarify the basic steps of the career planning process in a supportive, small-group setting. The benefits include:

  • a basic understanding of your interests, values, skills, preferred work environments, and personality type
  • several career possibilities that match the above elements
  • preliminary knowledge about industries/occupations of interest, and what you need to do to get there (including graduate study options)
  • a CDC staff member to whom you can turn in the future for discussing your individual questions and goals
  • information about specific organizations to target for a summer job, internship, externship, or volunteer experience
  • improved resume and cover letter writing skills
  • the preparation and knowledge necessary to perform a successful mock interview at the CDC
